Come up Higher!

I woke up at 3:44 am this morning with the words, "If you live above the clouds, you are less likely to be affected by the turbulence."As I lay there still half asleep, I pondered what this meant. Immediately, I remembered something my father-in-law shared with me recently. He took up flying as a hobby several years ago. He flew the other day to Colorado and had to land in New Mexico because of a storm; then he drove the rest of the way to his cabin. He told me that if he had a bigger airplane, he could have gone higher to miss the storm's turbulence.

The world is filled with storms and turbulence right now. I have experienced quite several storms in the past few months… close family and friends walking through cancer, adjusting to significant changes in our business, getting COVID 19, being isolated, and grieving my oldest son moving out.

Mystery behind Quarantine

The other day I was on a bike ride praying and pondering all that is going on right now in the world. I don’t believe the Lord brought on this virus, but feel strongly that He will use it for His good and His glory. In the middle of the bike ride, I kept thinking about divine surrender and felt like the Lord wanted me to dig a little deeper into the meaning. I got home and looked up the word surrender in Hebrew and it means to QUARANTINE, hand over or isolate. How's your temple?

We have entered into Holy Week leading up to the glorious Resurrection Sunday. Today in this timeline is when Jesus entered the temple, drove the traders out and cleansed the Temple. (Matthew 21:12-13) The Lord reminded me of something I wrote about in my devotional time a few weeks ago and wanted to share it with you. He took me to Matthew 21 and gave me a mental picture of Jesus going through the temple and overturning tables and driving out the money changers. I was picturing the physical temple in my mind’s eye when the Lord said you are my temple.

“You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred—and you, remember, are the temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:16 The Message

What are you staring at?

We are in an unprecedented time in history that has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear. Fear is coming at us from every news and social media outlet, friends, family, etc. I’m usually unphased by the news or social media because I very rarely look at them. BUT…I have been sucked in lately with everything going on and spent way too much time on them.

The other morning I woke up and started to pray for the morning. As I prayed, I heard a quote from Bill Johnson circle in my mind which says “Whatever you stare at the longest grows the largest.”
